Central Asian States

In central Asian states, Pakistani students have opportunities to study in countries like Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan etc. Kyrgyzstan has an area of 198,500 sq. km. and a population of about 4.59 million with per capita GDP of US$360. *Som is the local currency unit and US$1= Som49. Bishkek is the capital city and Kyrgyz (official) and Russian are local languages. Kazakhstan has an area of 2,717,300 sq. km. with a population of about 16.8 million and per capita GDP of US$1410. Astana is the capital city. *Tenge (T) is the monetary unit and US$1= T145. Kazakh and Russian are the languages of the country.

 Offered Courses: Like other states of central Asia or eastern Europe, the most popular courses of this country are Engineering in different faculties and of course medicine (MBBS/MD). However, a large No. of other courses are available in different faculties like Business, Management, law etc. A bachelor degree is of 4 year duration and a master degree is of about 2 years. Medium of instruction is Russian for most of the courses. Therefore, students are expected to do a 1-year foundation course before starting their regular studies.

Fees: Per annum, average fee is about US$1200. Living: Living is not expensive in Kyrgyzstan or other Central Asian Sates. Your per month lining (food & accommodation) can cost you around US$70.

 Admission Requirements: You need to have an intermediate certificate or equivalent, to get admission in a bachelor degree. Matriculates can also apply for foundation course. To get admission in a master degree, you need to have a 4-year bachelor degree or a master degree, from Pakistan. There is no language proficiency requirement.

 Intake: All the courses start in September/October each year. The foundation course can start in different months of a year.

Visa:  visa of Kyrgyz Republic is arranged by the university while that of Kazakhstan is collected from their consulate in Lahore, though it is also assisted by the university. There are no language or financial requirements for the visa.
