Ukraine

Ukraine is the second largest country of Europe with a Population of 50 million (2000) and Area of 603,700 sq.km. *Karbovanets (or hryvnia) is the local currency and US$1 = Kt6. Per Capita GDP US$ 870 (1998). Kiev is the Capital city. Ukrainian is the official language, however Russian is also spoken.

Courses offered: Basically the countries of eastern Europe are famous for their technical education. Courses are offer­ed in Aviation, Computer, Engineering and medical education (MD) in Ukraine at bachelor (3-4years) and master (2-years) levels. MD is of six years. Medium of instruction is Russian and for some selected courses it is also English. To study in Russian you have to do a 1-year foundation course.

Average Fees: Fees range from US$700 (foundation course) to US$3600 per year.

Living : Per month living (accommodation & Food) can cost you as little as US$50.

Admission Requirements: Intermediate (matriculate student can also apply) for bachelor degrees. No proof of proficiency of any language is required .

Intakes: September each year. However, the process MUST be started at least four months before the course commencement date.

Visa: Visa process is assisted by the university. You need to be under 26 years of age if you are applying for an undergraduate course. For Postgraduate, you must be under 30 years.
